"An Eye for an Eye"
Well it doesn't really work that way in this game.
For most of quests, karma bonus is included in the reward. So what does karma do here?
First, It is correlated to your drop rate. The higher your karma, the better your drop rate is. Sometimes even multiple item drop from a single monster.
And it's not just drop rate, but also the chance of you getting an item, in this case, the giftbox. High karma reduces the empty rate when opening a giftbox.
Though karma is hidden, the level is seen. Your karma level is visible from your horse color. So ride a horse to check it (see the picture below).
Second, the higher the level of horse, the higher rate of speed it moves. Walking is still at normal speed though.
Third, karma also affects the success rate of creation system. Along with the totem time. So do creation system in your totem time.
A message holy light purifies your soul means your karma have been increased.
But a dark shadow took your soul message means karma reduction. Usually happens if you lie to npc (example: you haven't bring all the items, and mostly happens to me when I'm looking for a specific adventure quest and chose I have done the quest instead surrender).
Karma reduction also happens if you are silenced or jailed.
There are numerous things to do daily to increase your karma, such as donate fine clothes, do easy adventure, worship totem, do star bless quest, etc.
