To everyone, especially God, Peter, & Jacob.
My analysis and final word on this matter.
Note:
This is just my personal analysis on how things get wrong.
On 5th May 2016, GM God decided to delete all his script on MornaTK.
So what’s causing this?
Note:
This is just my personal analysis on how things get wrong. Whether my analysis is right or wrong. It ends here. This is just an opinion, nothing more.
I take you all to where it began. I think everyone need to see why.
I started to get the annual lag on ETK (ping was 500 ish). It always happens during Christmas/New Year. Anyway, it kills my mood, I ragequit. Coincidentally, at that time, I was invited to test an Indo server, called mYnexia.
The problem is, that server was made to be an exact copy of PN (another indo server). Exact copy to the point of he also uses the same NPC model and color in PN. He also trying to make an exact copy of ETK too.
I see that is just gonna waste his time and lead nothing. No one is going to play an exact replica of server while the actual server is still running.
I have some unused maps. So I offered him to develop a new, hopefully unique gameplay.
And he agreed. At that time, he was working on game intro, tutorial.. (I meant he was making intro like ETK with quest for newbs).
Learnt from other high rating games and the possibility of making cutscene in this kind of game. (Cutscene exists in PN). So I offered to design a cutscene intro, which is the boat cutscene.
He agreed. That cutscene and “An Island Somewhere” took us like a month. It was something new to him.
In the following week or month, I completed whole gameplay design for all 4 classes.
And he was already working on it. I’m aware my designs were hard to make. He kept asking me to be involved in scripting, which I refused. I’m sure he’s frustrated, the design were hard. He even offered to help me making a localhost server, I refused. I love designing, but a server of my own is not something I want.
It comes to the point of annoyance that he keeps offering me to help making server.
I threaten him that I will log off if he ever ask me again for involved in scripting.
I realized later, not at that time, why he keeps on doing that:
- He is frustrated that my designs are hard to make.
- He wanted to make something new on his own, but he felt bad that he already agreed to do my designs.
There are great scripts that he had done, such as vending ransel. But I personally think, he wasted so much time on making replicas of other PS.
When I came, the replica of PN was almost complete with minor bug on spells.
But I stand corrected that no1 will play an exact replica of still running server.
Most indo player will come and ask things or GM God generously give powerful items. Those player will play around for 2-3 days and soon never to be seen again.
For US player, sadly, since it’s indo server, which is far, they all will be too laggy.
So when I keep asking him to continue working on the designs (some may call it me forcing him w/e) is merely me saving him and his server.
So, my mistake was, I never wanted to be involved in scripting.
Now when I said, I didn’t realize at that point why he keeps offering me to host a server, it’s true.
But since he keeps bugging me, so I told him I may know people who want to host a server.
I definitely choose US player because. If the server is hosted in US. There will be US and Indo players. If I picked indo player, than the server will only be filled with indo players. US players rarely stand the lag (300 ping average).
From several people, I picked Peter since I know him for more and longer.
He’s a good friend.
God Agreed to teach Peter more in scripts, servers, w/e needed.
So what we agreed on the joined server.
- Peter will host the server
- God will share his scripts/source/w/e needed.
- Peter will have his own region that he can develop.
- Everyone is considered as 50% contributor to be fair (God and Peter). So both can call it their server.
I really wished everyone stood at their point. Sadly it seems didn’t.
At that time, I didn’t realize the reason GM god ever agree was this:
So when Peter host that server, my design would be on that server and hopefully Peter would continue my design. This is basically the same reason why he wanted me to have my own server. Unfortunately I didn’t know this until it was too late.
The survival of this joined server is based on synchronizing schedule on when and what should be done to the server before it ever published.
There is 1 big problem.
God doesn’t know Peter, Peter doesn’t know God.
I am basically the person in the middle who both trusted.
I do want both of them to really know each other before even talking about joined server.
You can say, yeah right, they should know each other first, so they can bond. But I don’t think anyone can give an actual working action that both can do and will work. Peter is gonna be laggy in mYnexia. And God already has his own game server, no reason for him to log in to another game where Peter is. Trust is gonna be an issue.
So the truth is, I’m the key figure. I’m the one that can make the joined server works. I know I’m nobody. But if they both follow what I say, things should work well.
Now things moved to a point where another big issue show up.
It’s understandable that God has not trusted Peter as I do at that time. It was probably only some weeks after that agreement between both to have a joined scripts.
I’m aware that because God not trusting Peter at that time, means God is withholding his scripts.
Peter would need to host a public server, a VPS, as part of the agreement.
The problem is, who should do 1st? God sharing his scripts, or Peter renting a VPS?
This is basically like a hostage situation. 1 side asked to transfer money first, the other asked to release the hostage first. I don’t think any1 can decide who should do first.
We have a good reason why the joined server exist in the first place that I won’t disclose to any1 else. Only the 4 of us know.
But I’m going to point up 1 thing important. I understand Peter point of view, the advantage of renting VPS at the right time or the disadvantage for renting too soon or too late.
In order to fair for Peter, I posted some things he should have in his region before he ever rent a VPS:
- A basic design where a player can go hunt from level 1 to 99
- A way to farm money to buy some gears.
- A way to get 99 gear/spell
- A way for player to sell exp
- A place to hunt after 99
So crafting, mini games, quests that help player getting 99 is not essential and should be worked later on after VPS (server is hosted publicly).
I was not involved when God and Peter decided to choose VPS and when to actually rent it.
If it were up to me, I would not give Peter a green light to rent a VPS at that time, with his current server state. However, the VPS was rented. Both decided to run, rushed away from my “ground rules”. Now Peter has hosted a server when his own region is still far from ready. I’m speechless. But at that time, both did not cross that 50% contribution. Nothing I can say.
I know this gonna be an issue, whether this becoming a contributing factor or not, I don’t know.
I soon realized that at God hasn’t shared his scripts, so I asked him to do it. He did put all my designs there. At that point, from a player perspective, things seem ok.
Jacob made me aware later that God didn’t shared all his valuable scripts. I didn’t know why at that time, thinking it’s just because all of you do something this big way too fast that God is being careful, and not sharing other precious scripts. He probably gonna share it one at a time. It’s understandable. I think with time, if both party did not cross the line. It should be fine. I’m sure I can ask God for this later, after both have bonded to be friend.
I’ll skip to where things seems to have gone wrong way.
I didn’t recall when did god started to call Morna as not his server.
This is the very thing I tried to prevent in the first place.
Note: The incidents below is not correctly timelined as I didn’t recall which happens first.
If I can isolate a single incident, this may be one very contributing factor. There is one incident that Morna went down for hours. God finally fixed Morna. He told me later that the reason it went down because Peter changed the “mYnexia” in scripts without talking first to God, even scripts that is not visible for player.
I do think Peter made a grave mistake here. This soon prove to be an irreparable mistake. I can’t fix this one. On that day, I think Peter lost his leverage to get more scripts. I simply have no reason, I can’t talk god about sharing his scripts anymore.
I did calm him (God) down. I told Peter later that this made him feel left out, trying to cool down the situation as my damage control. Perhaps it was my own mistake for not telling Peter that God was actually mad, he thinks that is very rude, he said of sharing scripts not giving away scripts, he keeps bringing up that subject. I tried to divert his mind to something else. I knew at that time that God already had 1 of his foot outside the picture. I was hoping that that is the only and final issue and time will fix it.
Unfortunately I don’t know if that’s the only thing or not.
I am concerned about the server name.
Server name: MornaTk
Peter region: Morna
God region: mYnexia
I do think a third name as server name would be fair, something like Worlds of Nexus, Nexus: The other worlds. w/e.
I have no saying about this, I’m nobody. I was not involved in server name picking, and I shouldn’t be. Now the question is, if MornaTK taken as server name without talking to god, that is another huge mistake. Because both are 50% contributor. Now I don’t think it matters anymore….
Now with both server name and region name is Morna, it made it look like mYnexia is only hitchhiking. The only damage control I can do is posting in News board about the server and tell everyone how it was built without hurting Peter and God. The post is kinda explain why you see “mYnexia” in legend mark and when server needed to restart. It was actually Peter lost his leverage and I have no way to help him.
Still, God keeps bringing that subject up. God feels like Everything in MornaTK is 99% done and possible because of him as he contributed way much more than Peter (hosting a server). He told me he can rent a server on his own, although it will be local (Indo only). You can say he’s saying the hard truth. But that’s not the case. To make this server works, I need both party stick to that unwritten agreement, 50% contributor.
Now both have put me on difficult position.
There are other isolated incidents where it showed distrust.
- Once, Morna server went down (I forgot what was causing that one). Jacob jokingly asked if god say something to shut the servers. I was alarmed. It may be a joke, but it already shows one of important issue, trust.
- It’s funny, on one incident, God logged in and was doing something. Meanwhile, Jacob has spent hours without sleep and forgot to reload spell script to make it actually work. Jacob said god is doing something that makes him fail to get the spell from database (or something like that). Turns out, God refreshed/reload the script and it works. I may find it funny but I don’t think God sees it that way.
- When Peter logged in in mYnexia, God joked that I keep taking in Indo because I don’t appreciate of him being here. I know this not gonna end well. That kind of joke should never been said in the first place.
- God had been worried that later when he’s no longer needed, he will be ditched. I trust Peter not going to do that, but there’s no way for me to convince him strongly after that mYnexia name change incident.
I personally questioned why Peter rushed to publish the server (as in, open for players to come play). But I was glad he asked what needed to be done before the server can have green light from me.
There are very good reasons why the server do not have green light from me right away.
There are somethings not fixed yet and some things I’d like to prevent from ever happening in the future.
I will list what’s not fixed after showing these following problems I want to prevent from ever happening.
- Preventing the GM from having or using peer pressure to one another.
This occurred, I was curious why Jralik keep asking new player whether they like the intro or not. The 2 parts intro was not fixed, not tested for bugs. I would definitely reject player stating the intro is bad where they didn’t actually get full experience of the show. God also put this pressure on me, seeing players on Morna, he keep asking when we can “be ready”.
- Bad experience for player when you have a bug, a nerf, etc.
- Bad publication.
Imagine this happens on another server:
Player 1: Have u tried MornaTK?
Player 2: Yeah, it was buggy, lots of crash, seems it has potential, but I don’t like the spell.
Player 1: Good to know.
Let’s call it the “Important issues” before publishing the server.
There are several in game issues and technical issues that has not been solved.
I pointed out the server name as the first issue. But I reluctant to discuss further since I’m nobody and was not contributing anything valuable to the server. So what I did was just pointing out the server name.
Next on my list was intro region. The intro was designed for mYnexia region, both cutscene and An Island Somewhere. Since Peter like it, he may want/agree to use it as intro to Morna Region too. The intro, however, gave a bonus level and coins that Peter didn’t want player to get when getting to Morna. I agreed. So I told him I will ask god later to change it. But Peter/Jacob changed it. So one of them (Peter/Jacob) “fixed” this issue. So when I logged in later, I was surprised that the intro was diverted to Somewhere at sea map after the boat cutscene. We found later on that there may be a bug in intro where player get stuck in the 2nd part of intro. The intro was not yet tested extensively at that time. I regret that rather than “add” something to fix, like a portal/warp/NPC, someone decided to changed the intro by diverting to another map. Now it may seems to be not a big deal, after all mYnexia region was not ready for players, diverting the boat cutscene to Morna seems logical. Unfortunately that is a bad thing to do if you did try change/remove “mYnexia” before. God was furious and at first, refused to fix bugs in intro in Morna because it’s been changed. I quickly calm the situation, though Peter/Jacob might not realized what was happening at that time (they were on other map). I told Peter that what I agree was changing Mindy bonus level and coin to none not diverting the map.
Next on the list was elemental and resistance system. I fear that this system will affect database so this need to be done to prevent Morna having issues later when this system is copied to Morna.
Next on the list was fixing some stat bugs. Such as regen bug and M/G/W raising vita/mana bug.
This is gonna affect the source so it need to be fixed before release. So when this gonna be fixed? I have no idea. God has a bad habit that he’s too generous that he may kill the gameplay for players. He would give free powerful items, summon players out from hunting, messing around, giving spells across class. Basically nothing I can do to prevent this since technically he’s “above my paygrade”. He’s the owner, creator, main GM, and so on. What I can do is just log off and play another game. There are days spent without producing anything, without fixing spell bugs, while Morna region have been developed non stop. Now the problem is, most time he logs in in Morna, he may do the same thing. I asked him not to do that in Morna. But there’s nothing I can do. Bottom line, God sees a player, development stops. I try to limit his appearance in Morna by asking him to continue working in mYnexia, then copy the scripts to Morna. Besides I hate it that, when in Morna, he helped non-essential things like crafting, mini games. Those can wait after he fixes his own region spell bugs.
Now why I didn’t prevent any of this from happening?
Well I lost internet connection for 2-3 days after I posted that “Important issues” what needed to be done before server can be published. When I got my connection back, I logged in Morna and thought Peter and Jacob was using alt at first. But no, it was actual players. So Morna was published without my ‘green light’, without those important issues fixed, and intro was diverted.
But hey, who am I, giving a green light or not.
I’m nobody right?
Who am I, preventing server owner to publish his server. I’m just a player.
As the middle man, as the key figure that helped joined the server, I know that this not gonna end well.
Morna went down due to memory problem. Whatever that is.
God told me that he had to help do memory swap for Morna. Again, whatever that is.
God told me later that Peter seems to be ungrateful after he helped fixing it. Not even a thanks, he said.
Now, I am worried he’s bringing up that subject again. I tried to take his mind off and focusing on fixing spell bugs.
We can say Morna is God’s server too, since that 50% contributor, both own the server.
I think this to myself:
Why Peter have to say thanks, it’s your own damn server too. God is helping his own server.
Why did you complain about helping Peter?
But I know the answer. He was no longer thinking Morna is his anymore.
Again, I am in very difficult position.
The last incident before files deletion was this:
God finished fixing mYnexia spell bugs. Finished fixing stat bugs and made much more improvement to the source. I was alarmed that when I asked God to move those fixed spells to Morna, that he said:
Tell them (Peter/Jacob), that when moving this source, it’s possible that Morna may went down, some things may be bugged and not working, and when they do, don’t blame him (God).
Blaming? I asked myself, is this because of that incidence when Jacob didn’t sleep more than 24 hours, working on scripts, or there are other incidents which I didn’t know about? I would never ever find out.
Surely I talked to Peter, that God gonna put more scripts and problems are expected. And of course, I left the “don’t blame him” out. That words, I deemed will be damaging the server survival. After this scripts been put on Morna, I tell myself that everything will be ok, God will see that what we’ve been doing, the 4 of us is actually great.
But God stalled, although he didn’t say it, 2 days he play around in Morna, making elixir, not really working on spell and bug fixes. Peter and Jacob may not see what’s happening. Why I’m furious.
This was the final script/fix before mYnexia region can be released. If he’s not going to do it, he’s not going to.
So I asked him does he still want to have this joined server or not.
I still trying to convince him, but all previous known incidents burden me.
He took time off, AFK whole day. I think, he has been thinking about it and it angers him again.
So he did that, delete all.
I regret how things have played out.
Unless there's another reason I don't know about, I think my Analysis is correct.
In the end, I see 2 people with huge ego that can't simply meet each others eye.
I can point out who to blame. The guy who crossed 50% line.
But Hey! Let's blame the 3rd person who probably has the biggest ego, thinking that he can make this joined server works by meeting 2 people, completely stranger to each other, and still think that it will work.
Yeah, that 3rd person is me.
It is unfortunate that I am banned from Morna.
But I know I will be on crosshair at the time that God delete his scripts.
There's simply no word, no sentence I can tell you to unhook me.
Since I’m the one who to blame.
I’m gonna man up and apologize.
To Peter, I’m sorry for not being a good friend, I should have tell you when you make a mistake as a good friend should do.
To God, I’m sorry how it turns out, I know Morna was not the 1st server you have helped. And I did convince you that this is going to be different. Sorry about this bad experience.

There is 1 big problem.

I’m sure I can ask God for this later, after both have bonded to be friend.
I’ll skip to where things seems to have gone wrong way.
I didn’t recall when did god started to call Morna as not his server.
This is the very thing I tried to prevent in the first place.

I am concerned about the server name.
